The William Larue Weller 2024 Release is a distinguished Kentucky Straight Bourbon from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, honoring the legacy of wheated bourbon pioneer W.L. Weller. This annual release is highly anticipated by enthusiasts for its depth and character, representing a significant offering in the world of American whiskey.

Overview

This 2024 edition of William Larue Weller Bourbon stands as a prime example of traditional wheated bourbon craftsmanship. As a key component of the esteemed Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, it embodies a dedication to producing expressions that reflect both historical methods and exceptional quality. The bourbon is presented in its uncut and unfiltered state, a deliberate choice to allow its natural characteristics and robust flavor profile to shine through, offering an authentic and intense experience for those who appreciate powerful, full-bodied spirits. Its creation pays homage to W.L. Weller, who was instrumental in popularizing the use of wheat in bourbon mashbills, resulting in a distinctively smooth and complex spirit.

Key Characteristics

The William Larue Weller 2024 Release is defined by several critical attributes that collectively contribute to its distinctive and celebrated profile:

**Age Statement**: This particular bourbon has undergone an extensive maturation period, aged for over twelve years. This prolonged aging process is crucial for developing its profound complexity and refined character.
**Proof**: Bottled at a bold 125.8 proof, this expression delivers a powerful and concentrated flavor experience, indicative of its barrel strength presentation.
**Mashbill**: Crafted with a classic wheated mashbill, a signature style pioneered by W.L. Weller. The inclusion of wheat, rather than rye, typically results in a bourbon with a softer, more approachable texture and a sweeter, richer flavor profile.
**Barrel Entry Proof**: The spirit entered the barrel at a proof of 114. This specific entry proof plays a vital role in how the bourbon interacts with the oak during its long maturation, influencing the extraction of flavors and tannins.
**Maturation Location**: The bourbon was carefully aged on the lower floors of Buffalo Trace’s historic rickhouses. This specific aging environment, characterized by more stable temperatures and humidity, contributes uniquely to the bourbon’s slow and consistent development.

Technical Details

Matured for over twelve years, the William Larue Weller 2024 Release showcases the profound results of extended aging within carefully selected oak barrels.
